Polygyny,
Polyandry, Polygamy, and Polyamory
Here is a recent, brief, newspaper
article defining polygyny, polyandry, and polygamy. Polyamory is discussed
afterwards.
Many have no
idea how to answer when asked if polygyny is acceptable today. One reason is
they do not know the difference between the Old and New Covenant and
Christ's marriage law.
Polygyny & Polygamy
Polygyny is one husband and multiple wives. Polyandry is a single wife and multiple husbands. Polygamy is having more than one wife or husband at the same time. Jesus
teaching on marriage, divorce, and remarriage contains the approved example God
gave, not man, at the beginning concerning male and female --- there are just
two genders! (Cf. Gen. 2:24). Mat 19:3 The Pharisees also came unto him,
tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife
for every cause? Mat 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not
read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, Mat
19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and
shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Mat 19:6
Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What
therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Mat 19:8 He saith unto them, Moses
because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but
from the beginning it was not so. Mat 19:9 And I say unto you,
Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication,
and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is
put away doth commit adultery.
In His teaching you find the husband
and his wife, and the husband and wife as the two (a primary numeral two)
being one flesh, not his wives instead of the two, i.e.,
just the man and his wife!

Polyamory
Polyamory:
multiple sexual relationships simultaneously with full consent of all involved.
Claiming
close emotional bonds doesnt change the fact it is fornication. It involves a
sinful lascivious lifestyle. Calling such a committed partnership or even marital
polyamory still ends with both fornications and adulteries being condemned in
the New Testament. Some would just say theyre swingers swapping
partners and be done with it!
Gal 5:19 Now the
works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry,
witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions,
heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings,
murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you
before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such
things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Adultery [G3430] ί
At least one married person is involved.
Fornication [G4202] Thayer Definition:
1) illicit sexual
intercourse
1a) adultery, fornication,
homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc.
God
will judge both classes whether men do or not.
Sex is
to take place in a marriage approved by God.
