Messianic Jewish churches A critique of one of the newer movements (denominations)
today, Messianic Judaism. These are Jews who profess belief in Jesus of
Nazareth as the Messiah. Their worship appears to be a combination of Old and
New Testament items. They look for a return of Christ, whom they do believe is
the Messiah, back to the earth in order to reign from Jerusalem. One point made
concerns their use of the title RABBI (Matt. 23:8-10).
Using “ALL”
To Displace Racial Hatred This article refers states God’s desire
for ALL men to come to repentance, shows ALL
men have come from Adam, teaches the Gospel is for ALL men, shows a Jew preaching salvation to a
Gentile, presents scripture where both Jew and Gentiles were made “one new
man,” i.e. a Christian, emphasizes that ALL who manifest the works of
the flesh, including RACIAL HATRED, will perish, and ends with God’s
universal requirement of repentance and baptism for ALL men in order that
they might be saved!
All
Lives Matter – A Hot Topic! When one turns to the Gospel of
Christ immediately its emphasis is ALL LIVES MATTER (Mk. 16:15-16). When it
comes to RACE all lives matter! Saying “black lives matter” became political and enforceable and people
followed like sheep! All lives matter — don’t be stupid and endorse the Black
Lives Matter organization that is evil. Have the courage as a Christian to say
all lives matter. This is fundamental to our example as a teaching element and
concern for lost souls (Cf. Mk. 16:15-16, Gal. 6:10, etc.). There is NO PARTIALITY WITH GOD (Rom. 2:5-11; Acts 10:34 …God
is no RESPECTER OF PERSONS).
Light Beer is
not so Light: Perhaps you've wondered what the alcohol content is in light
beer. In this brief article you will find an
answer to that important question. Dear reader do not believe everything that you hear
concerning light beer. And especially comments to this effect, "What's the
big deal after all it is only light beer?" Here are scriptural warnings as to how alcohol mocks the drinker,
CAUSES RAGE, brings woes --- the deceitfulness of alcohol, and its attendant state of
drunkenness and addiction.
Memory
#2 You may desire to read “Memory #1” for April
2016 before this continuing article concerning some simple applications
pertaining to one’s memory. Emphasis in this article is given to the importance
of our remembering our own past conduct. Paul did not exclude himself when
speaking of past conduct before his conversion – stating plainly that he acted
ignorantly as a blasphemer, persecutor and violent aggressor (“injurious”)
against the church. He included himself in being foolish, disobedient,
deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy,
hateful, and hating one another (Titus 3:3). Paul thought he should do many
things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth (Acts 26:9). This is the
difference between “I think I should” and what is right before God! Recalling his past RAGE before his conversion he said he was “exceeding
ENRAGED” or “furiously enraged” against the church and tried to destroy it
(Acts 26:11; Gal. 1:13). Paul
had a murderer’s heart (Acts 9:1). He said he was “chief of sinners” and thus
he became an example of the longsuffering of God for others to learn by who are
going to believe on Christ – to show that the same mercy extended to Paul
through obedience to Christ is for all. You use this to show others who are
not yet Christians, who believe they have done so much wrong that they are not
worthy of salvation in Christ, that the promise of forgiveness of sins when one
repents and obeys in baptism is for them and all (cf. Acts 2:21 with 2:36-41).
Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of
explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of
Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ”
that are not found elsewhere. The following are things found in Jesus Christ that
are not found in Islam. Belief that God RAISED JESUS from the dead is important enough that one cannot be
saved with it! (Rom. 10:9-10). You will find under "Things Concerning the Resurrection" that Jesus
"is" the resurrection and the life (John 11:25; 2 Cor. 4:14; Col.
3:1-4). Those
who do not obey the Gospel will be ashamed on the Day the Lord comes again! (2
Th. 1:8-9; I John 2:28).
The
Muslim Feast of Ramadan ISLAM: Here is a close look
at RAMADAN as presented by Muslims from the Quran in English with English
commentaries. Every time I read what Muslim
scholars have to say about Islam their message is clearly that Islam is a
religion that seeks to destroy belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God --- it
denies the fundamental teaching of the New Testament as the will of God for all
of mankind until the end of time. Their
teaching on RAMADAN obviously fits this established pattern! One interesting doctrine also included is what
Muslims are told to do in seeking the forgiveness of their sins.
Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of
explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of
Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ”
that are not found elsewhere. We have redemption through
Christ's blood, even the forgiveness of our sins (Eph. 1:7). "Redemption" means "a release upon payment of a RANSOM."
A Description of the Wicked This is a good article to present to the
teenager at home or elsewhere. The article is written as a way of warning the
young and others as well who are simple minded and do not see danger. This is often true
with regard to where one might be RAPED. The vicious conduct of
the wicked is well illustrated in Judges 19 with regard to the Levite and his
concubine who turned in to Gibeah to lodge for the night. Applications to “today” include
the fact that in some cases the “victim” must understand that a tragedy could
have been avoided had they themselves not contributed by being out late at
night in a place that makes them vulnerable.
The Rapture
That Never Comes! This series on premillennialism with its so called “RAPTURE” is set against recent false teaching and
predictions concerning such. You will find a simplified basic premillennial
chart that helps to explain this deceptive doctrine. Scriptural points are
given to counter this doctrine under “Important Applications.”
Newspaper
Articles: The Rapture That Never Comes These short newspaper articles are
linked with The Truth In Print series (see above) so the reader may find
information on this very topic with expansion of the main points. Like the

How
Can One Understand the Bible? Most
churches never speak out on the necessity of having “scriptural authority” for what one believes and practices. In fact,
most are not willing to deal with the subject because of the lack of authority
for things they are doing. Here is a brief study on how to establish scriptural
authority by using Statements, Commands, Examples, and Necessary Inferences
found in the Word of God. Each person is expected to READ and UNDERSTAND God’s Word (Eph. 3:3-4) --- just the
same as if someone gave them an important set of instructions dealing with
their work or health to read for their benefit.
A Read the
Bible Story worth Telling The importance of READING the Bible is stressed along with appropriate
applications concerning the blessings of reading it, hearing it and keeping it. Maturity only comes one way – in time with study and application (Heb.
5:12-14). There is this warning: If
you could not understand the Bible you would not know the difference between
human tradition, man’s so called spiritual wisdom, and God’s Word (Col. 2:8). With that in mind the
article presents a conversation with a man who said that he is reading the
Bible for himself for the first time in his life. Moreover, he’s seeing the differences between what man is willing to
teach for the sake of human tradition, power, prestige, etc. and how the Bible
really reads.
The
Appreciation Of Godly Sisters In Christ The tremendous value of our sisters in Christ is
set forth in this article. Beginning with the honor that is due to faithful
women in Christ, the study sets forth the various duties enjoined upon them in
regards to their family and service rendered to the church that Christ built. They
are to BE READY unto every good work (Eph. 2:10, I Tim. 5:10, Titus 3:1, 2:14). Compare Paul’s statement concerning any
believing man or woman relieving their own in vs. 16 with the disciple whom
Jesus loved in John 19. At the crucifixion we see his readiness to take Mary and fulfill the charge given him by the Lord
(Jo. 19:26-27). We are all to STAY READY unto every good work
(Titus 3:1). Why not study the nine points of application directed towards their
being scripturally appreciated?
Memory #3 of 3 This is the third portion of a brief series
on “Memory” (April, May and June 2016). This article’s emphasis is on not using
memory to prevent spiritual danger and destruction; letting greed overpower
remembering God’s presence in times past; using memory to correct one’s life;
the necessity of being reminded to BE
READY for every good work. Israel’s
Complaining / Murmuring towards Moses and Aaron, and thus towards God Himself,
that they had been brought out into the wilderness to be killed by thirst and starvation
led to the destruction of many (cf. Nu. 11:1 Taberah; 11:33-34 Kibrothhathtaava). Letting “greed” (lust) overpower
remembering God’s presence in times past resulted in a great plague upon the
people (Nu. 11:33-34).
Unwise
Unsuspiciousness (Jer. 40:14) This is based upon Gedaliah’s mistake as
recorded by Jeremiah. We see stupidity in the pattern presented by refusing to
credit information given by “all” and being indignant towards the informant and
accusing him of lying. “You liar!” You will often hear that when the evidence
points to something one doesn’t want to believe. He should have listened. He
should have listened. This also includes events in the family of David when
Amnon rapes Tamar, and Absalom seeks to kill Amnon. David here is an example of a father’s emotions overriding REASON.
"What
went you out…to see?" This is a
lesson on dress. The study first looks at Jesus' teaching concerning
"anxiety" and dress (Matt. 6, the Sermon on the Mount). Following
this, application is drawn from the use of "clothing" as a metaphor
in warning against false religious teachers (Matt. 7:15). A very important lesson is drawn from His
teaching concerning the hypocritical Jewish leaders who were skilled in
identifying their "own" holy signs of dress, yet so unskilled in
listening to God's word and identifying "proper" conduct. One’s “REASONABLE SERVICE”
(Rom. 12:1-2) is viewed in the light of proper
dress and conduct. The kind of conduct that shows respect for
oneself, for others, and manifests one's self control
(I Tim. 2:8-9).

A Request: Pray For Me! This article deals with Christians who
request prayer on their behalf. One part of the article stresses
things often neglected and overlooked by such a one – namely "Should the request have been preceded
with a REBUKE?" (Acts 8:22-24), for just having
someone pray for you without your repentance does not change your standing
before God! Additional points are applied concerning the one
making the request. It also presents the need for repentance and confession of
one's sin as well as an appropriate rebuke at times (I Pet. 3:12, Acts 8:22-24,
Ja. 4:4, I John 1:9).
Selected
Newspaper Articles Dear reader the following
bold heading is a selected article that appeared in our local newspaper, the
Yuma Sun. “I’m Mr. Positive!” bespeaks of the empty, vain
teaching and preaching done today by popular speakers who REFUSE TO REBUKE
sinful conduct thus serving themselves (Rom. 16:17). Mr. PMA (Positive Mental
Attitude) can avoid every probing question as to soundness in teaching and love
for truth with, “You’ve got to understand, I’m just being me in being totally
positive in my message.” Why not read about Mr. PMA and his motives for not
using scripture and requiring repentance unto salvation? We encourage you to
read each of scriptures referenced to understand your own accountability (Jo.
12:48; Matt. 7:21-27).
Selected
Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1)
“Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street
Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a
Greedy Person” – greedy preachers and teachers who put their love of power,
position and wealth above the duty to REBUKE as commanded.
“I’m
Staying with Zoom” The current pride in technology denominational
invite is “Worship online or in person here.” We must be certain that what we
do with high tech is scriptural as regards the work and worship of Christ’s
church. If “zoom” and “online” are let stray, as some among us already have,
then you will have a developed human tradition that will cause many to lose
their souls. The impact itself on the body of Christ can be like a spreading
spiritual virus in years following upon member’s zeal for assembling (Cf. Eph.
4:14; 2 Tim. 2:17; Heb. 10:24-27). TO “Speak
the things proper for sound doctrine” you must know the
difference between the word “home” and “house”
and “houses” and the words “come together as a church” and “assembling of
ourselves together” and “in the church.” Read here for proper definitions that
lead to proper applications of what it means to “assemble together.”
The kind of SPEAKING DEMANDED is presented in the following
points with the definitions given:
1. Showing oneself a lover of the
truth is seen in SPEAKING the truth to one another (EPH. 4:20-25).
2. TO SPEAK, exhort and rebuke
with all authority (TITUS 2:15)
3. PREACHING involves “REPROVE” [G1651], “REBUKE” [G2008] & “EXHORT” [G3870] (CF. 2 TIM. 4:2)
4. QUALIFIED
ELDERS BOTH EXHORT (G3870) AND CONVICT or CONVICE (G1651) THE GAINSAYSERS
(G483) (Titus 1:9).
Shame
Has Its Place A Study of
Shame. When lives spiritually are at stake to save them shame matters (!!) and
has a place. THERE ARE OTHER WORDS AS WELL AS STATEMENTS, AND
PHRASES, BESIDES SHAME AND ASHAMED THAT INCLUDE SHAME IN THEIR EXPLANATIONS. We
See The World’s Hatred Of The Light In Jo 3:19-21. Everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to it
“lest his deeds should be exposed.” > “EXPOSED”
/ “REPROVED” [G1651] Strong’s: - convict, convince, tell a fault, rebuke,
reprove. > CWSD: In the NT, to
convict, to prove one in the wrong and thus to
shame him.
All of these are related to shame when
preaching: “REBUKE” G2008 (2 Tim 4:2)
Thayer: 4) to tax with fault, rate, chide, rebuke, reprove, censure severely 4a) to admonish or charge sharply; “convict” G1651 (Titus 1:9) Strong’s: - convict, convince, tell a fault, rebuke,
reprove. CWSD: In the NT, to convict,
to prove one in the wrong and thus to shame him; “convict”
G1651 Thayer: 2a2) to call to account, show one
his fault, demand an explanation. Some want to act
like they are fighting for the Truth, but they are not really fighting. A REBUKE STINGS. GENERAL INQUIRY DOES NOT (!!) REPLACE
THE WORK OF REBUKING. THE RECEIVER KNOWS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE, AND IT IS NOT A
REBUKE!
The List That Justifies The Ungodly Using Prov.
9:7-9 that says, “Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate you…” this article deals with the ungodly who have no
real concern for the whole of God’s commandments and doing all He requires (cf.
Ps. 119:160). Such will often “keep records” (lists) of others’ sins
that they have repented of. They “mark” another’s sins in order to use them
against them in an unrighteous way! And of course their “list” so far as they are concerned is reason
enough for them to reject reproofs / REBUKES for their own present sins. The wicked do not love the one
who REBUKES them, neither will they go to the wise for counsel (Prov. 15:12).
The Conduct God Expects From Our
Members Read this article and it should help you to better understand the
"unity of the Spirit" in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14.
These 7 Virtues are discussed as being necessary for each member of the local
church: Lowliness (Humility), Meekness (Gentleness), Longsuffering (Patience),
Forebearing (Showing Tolerance), Tender Mercies (Heart of Compassion), Kindness
and Forgiving one another. Understanding these in this context answers such
important questions as: Whom can I talk to? When do I go to another? Can I speak
publicly in REBUKING to thus
maintain this unity? What would a refusal to listen indicate? And,
What happens to one who does not forgive if one repents?
“All
You Really Have To Do Is Believe In God”
Jesus
said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven”
(Matt. 7:21). Look below for “To RECEIVE CHRIST is to RECEIVE THE FATHER.”
Points made concerning both the
Father’s will and JESUS are:
1. Jesus
did the will of the father who sent Him (cf. John 6:37-38).
2.
Jesus’ words are the Father’s (John 17:14, 17).
3.
Jesus was seeking the Father’s glory not His own (Jo. 7:17-18).
4.
Jesus’ authority was the Father’s! (Read John 12:48-50).
5.
Jesus gave us the Father’s word which is truth (John 17:14, 17).
6.
One cannot come to Christ except by the will of the Father (Jo. 6:37).
7.
The Father’s will is that you believe in Jesus His Son (Jo. 6:45).
8.
The “work of God,” or requirement of God is that one believes in Jesus
whom He has sent (John 6:26-29).
9.
The Father’s will is that eternal life comes through belief in Christ
(John 6:40).
10. Eternal life is gained by knowing His Father
and the Son whom He sent (Jo. 17:3).
11. Jesus is the only way to the Father (Jo.
14:6).
12. The doing of the Father’s will establishes
one’s relationship with Christ (Matt. 12:50).
13. Those who do believe will not perish
(Jo.3:16).
14. The belief in Christ that saves is a belief
that obeys Him, else the wrath of God abides upon one (cf. Matt. 7:21; Jo.
3:36; Heb. 5:9).
15. The one who doesn’t
believe God has given us eternal life in His Son makes God a liar ( I John 5:10-11).
16. This is all based in the
Scriptures (John 5:39; De. 18:18-19).
17. Jesus didn’t say that they “can’t”
believe and obey but they “would not” (John 8:24).
18. His word which was the
Father’s necessitates baptism for initial obedience in order that one might be
saved (cf. Matt. 28:18-20 “all” authority for “all” nations; Mk. 16:15-16; Acts
16:31; Acts 22:16 an example of Saul obeying the Son of God).
19. Christ was “end of the Law”
(Rom. 10:4). Both Jew and Gentile are saved the same way by obeying the Gospel
(Rom. 1:16, 17, Rom. 3:29-30).
20. To believe in Christ is to
believe in the Father (cf. John 12:44-45). Of course, for that is the Father’s
will! (see above)
21. To reject Christ is to
reject the Father’s word (cf. John 12:48-50, 14:24).
22. To receive Christ is to receive the Father
(cf. John 13:20). Jesus told why some do not receive Him (cf. John 5:43-44).
23. If you don’t love Christ you don’t keep the
Father’s words (cf. John 14:24).
24. If you keep the Father’s will you will keep
Christ’s commandments (cf. John 14:15, 24, 12:49).
25. To abide in Jesus’ love is to abide in the
Father’s love (cf. John 14:21, 15:9-10; I John 4:16).
26. To be in Christ is to be in the Father (cf. I
John 4:15-16).
27. Knowing the Son is knowing the Father (cf.
John 14:7-10, 1:18, 10:15; Matt. 11:27 Plain!).
28. If you deny the Son you do
not have the Father (cf. I John 2:23). You’ve called God a liar! (I John 5:10).
You will die in your sins (John 8:24). Those who deny the Son are in the power
of Satan (I John 5:19-20).
29. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father (cf.
I John 2:23).
30. Does the Father’s will
really say all that one must do is believe in God in a very general way? No!
This becomes, when we understand the expression “the will of My
Father,” the very lesson people need who say Jesus is Lord and then profess
there are other religions that lead to the Father that don’t believe Jesus is
Lord (cp. Lk. 6:46). And again, notice in our study what knowing and doing “the will of My Father”
does to the statement often heard, i.e. all you have to do is believe in God.
The Conduct God Expects From Our Members
Read this article and it should help you to better understand the
"unity of the Spirit" in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:1-3; Col. 3:12-14.
These 7 Virtues are discussed as being necessary for each member of the local
church: Lowliness (Humility), Meekness (Gentleness), Longsuffering (Patience),
Forebearing (Showing Tolerance), Tender Mercies (Heart of Compassion), Kindness
and Forgiving one another. Understanding these in this context answers such
important questions as: Whom can I talk to? When do I go to
another to seek RECONCILIATION? Can I speak publicy in rebuking to thus
maintain this unity? What would a refusal to listen indicate? and What happens
to one who does not forgive if one repents? When this bond is strong as it should be the quarrels and wrongs done will be
addressed and settled scripturally, and the bond will not fracture.
Bible Endings For Torn Relationships Five important Bible relationships are presented while giving emphasis to the importance of entreaty and RECONCILIATION. Stated goals for entreating are: 1. To be of the
same mind, Phil. 2:2; 2. To be at peace, I Th. 5:13; 3. To understand the
outcome of dissension. It strengthens the enemy of the gospel; the weak when
pulled in to dissensions are caused to stumble; 4. To
repent and return to the work, Rev. 3:19-20; 5. To use with older men, I Tim.
5:1; 6. To implement with God's wisdom which is easy to be entreated, Ja.
3:17-18. Thus one is to be both approachable and easily persuaded to do that
which is right.
"He who receives you receives
Me" (Matthew
10:40). The foremost lesson in this article
is the authority Christ vested in His Apostles and their conduct in preaching
the Gospel. But the article also gives emphasis to the matters of both
"giving" and "RECEIVING."
Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of
explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of
Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ”
that are not found elsewhere. We have REDEMPTION
through Christ's blood, even the
forgiveness of our sins (Eph. 1:7).
How Will God
Feel About You When You Ask Him For Help? Do you know
someone who is in trouble and needs God’s help? In this brief study the
scriptures are related to three
important questions dealing with those times when we need, desire, and ask for
God’s help: (1) When you want God’s help how fast do you want Him there? (2) When we need Him to deliver us how far do
we want Him from us? (3) How do you want God to feel about you when you ask Him to help you?
We must know that God can and will defeat those who REFUSE His call to
them!
Five Short Articles On Jesus’ Kingdom And Reign Here
are five articles that were written for our local newspaper. Look below to see
if some or all may be of benefit to you or to another you might know.
1. Jesus Is King Of The Jews And Of All Men!
2. The Israel of God Today (With
Additional Comments on Zionism).
3. Christianity Does Not Teach Another Temple
In Jerusalem!
4. The One Thousand Year REIGN Is Not On Earth!
5. The Battle of “Armageddon.”
The Quran
On Jesus (Series) This series presents the basic teachings about the present REIGN
& KINGDOM OF CHRIST all people need to hear! You will often hear that
Islam honors all prophets, including Jesus. Just what “kind” of honor does
Islam give to the Lord Jesus Christ? It is certainly not that they believe in
His deity because they do not. The truth is Islam repeatedly denies that Jesus
is God. Islam also denies the basic tenants of the New Testament teaching about
Jesus and salvation. How do you supposedly honor Him when the honor you give to
Him is the dishonor of saying He was not who He said He was? Why not follow this series and see the many
truths that Islam denies about Jesus that the New Testament teaches and
Christians believe?
“All
You Really Have To Do Is Believe In God”
Jesus
said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven”
(Matt. 7:21). Please look below for what it means to REJECT CHRIST.
Points made concerning both the
Father’s will and JESUS are:
1. Jesus did
the will of the father who sent Him (cf.
17. Jesus didn’t say that they
“can’t” believe and obey but they “would not” (John 8:24).
18. His word which was the
Father’s necessitates baptism for initial obedience in order that one might be
saved (cf. Matt. 28:18-20 “all” authority for “all” nations; Mk. 16:15-16; Acts
16:31; Acts 22:16 an example of Saul obeying the Son of God).
19. Christ was “end of the Law”
(Rom. 10:4). Both Jew and Gentile are saved the same way by obeying the Gospel
(Rom. 1:16, 17, Rom. 3:29-30).
20. To believe in Christ is to
believe in the Father (cf. John 12:44-45). Of course, for that is the Father’s
will! (see above)
21. To
reject Christ is to reject the Father’s word (cf. John 12:48-50, 14:24).
22. To receive Christ is to receive the Father
(cf. John 13:20). Jesus told why some do not receive Him (cf. John 5:43-44).
23. If you don’t love Christ you don’t keep the
Father’s words (cf. John 14:24).
24. If you keep the Father’s will you will keep
Christ’s commandments (cf. John 14:15, 24, 12:49).
25. To abide in Jesus’ love is to abide in the
Father’s love (cf. John 14:21, 15:9-10; I John 4:16).
26. To be in Christ is to be in the Father (cf. I
John 4:15-16).
27. Knowing the Son is knowing the Father (cf.
John 14:7-10, 1:18, 10:15; Matt. 11:27 Plain!).
28. If
you deny the Son you do not have the Father (cf. I John 2:23). You’ve called
God a liar! (I John 5:10). You will die in your sins (John 8:24). Those who
deny the Son are in the power of Satan (I John 5:19-20).
29. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father (cf.
I John 2:23).
30. Does the Father’s will
really say all that one must do is believe in God in a very general way? No!
This becomes, when we
understand the expression “the will of My Father,” the very lesson people need
who say Jesus is Lord and then profess there are other religions that lead to
the Father that don’t believe Jesus is Lord (cp. Lk. 6:46). And again, notice
in our study what knowing and doing “the will of My Father” does to the
statement often heard, i.e. all you have to do is believe in God.
Why We Rejoice With One Another God delights over His people to do them good (De. 28:63). The Psalmist
said, “Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart”
(Ps. 97:11). We are commanded to REJOICE with those who rejoice, and to weep with those who weep, being
of the same mind one toward another (Rom. 12:15-16). Our being sorrowful when one is arrogant and
suffers is different from sharing joy and sorrow as Paul spoke of. If one of us
suffers because we remain arrogant and obstinate then our tears will be the
tears of Jeremiah if we love them (cf. Jer. 13:17). Concerned
reader, there are situations
where man is REJOICING and God is not! (Prov. 1:26). God warned there would be a time when
He was REJOICING and they are not! However, you will find such “REJOCE WITH” applications in this article as (1) I Can Rejoice With One
Who Is Faithful Whom I Know God Delights Over To Do Good; (2) I Can’t Rejoice With Another When I See The Vanity Of The
World; (3) I Can Rejoice With One Who Rejoice In Truth;
(4) I Can Rejoice With One Who Wants God’s Instruction, Counsel, And Eye
Upon Them.
After Baptism, Then What? The
article begins with a brief mention of baptism as a time of REJOICING
for both man and heaven. It offers appropriate encouragement and warnings
for those recently baptized for the remission of their sins.
Casting Down
Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5) While professing love and
understanding false teachers make a mockery of Christ’s teaching in “how” they
use Matt. 22:39 – they twist “love thy neighbor as thyself.” They fail to put
it properly with the preceding first and greatest commandment 'YOU SHALL LOVE
THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR
MIND' (Matt. 22:37). This love does NOT REJOICE IN UNRIGHTEOUSNESS
but in the truth (I Cor. 13:6). They teach the local church is to accept and
fellowship heterosexual couples living together in fornication which is sin (Gal.
5:19), those in Homosexual and Lesbian sexual relationships which is sin (I
Cor. 6:9; Rom. 1:26), as well as condone and fellowship adulterous marriages
(cf. Matt. 19:9). These deceivers are guilty of REJOICING IN
INIQUITY, not loving God and being religiously injurious to all in their
wicked deceptions! Their churches are full of iniquity and their
members love to have it so (2 Tim. 3:1-5, 4:3).
From
Youth through the Prime of Life (Eccl. 11:9-12:1) There are degrees of progression of age in this
text. Accountability is seen throughout and the “right” things done are
contrasted with things sinful that must be removed. These portions of life
merge together and are fleeting, thus the necessity of remembering one’s
Creator in the days of youth. When done right this
“stage” is not filled with doubt and dissatisfaction, nor is life mostly filled
with unhappiness. They are REJOICING, the heart is pleasing to God, thus
there is a continual feast (JOY).
Bible Endings For Torn Relationships Five important Bible RELATIONSHIPS are presented while giving emphasis to the
importance of entreaty and reconciliation. Stated goals for
entreating are: 1.To be of the same mind (Phil. 2:2);
2. To be at peace (I Th. 5:13, 3); To understand the outcome of dissension. It
strengthens the enemy of the gospel; the weak when pulled in to dissensions are
caused to stumble; 4. To repent and return to the work (Rev. 3:19-20); 5. To
use with older men (I Tim. 5:1); 6. To implement with God's wisdom which is
easy to be entreated (Ja. 3:17-18). Thus one is to be both approachable and
easily persuaded to do that which is right.
Using The Word
“Religion” Correctly You will hear, “You
know there is really no such thing as RELIGION in the Bible.” That’s as false as one
saying you can love Jesus but RELIGION is non-essential. Some falsely present
Jesus as greater than religion, but the religion He gave is His love, holiness,
discipline and just nature. Various scriptural usages of the word
“RELIGION” are presented in this article, while contrasting false religion with
the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude 3).
You find references to the Jews’ religion, sects of
the Jews, and man-made RELIGION after the commandments and doctrines of men.
Such are contrasted with “pure religion and undefiled before God and the
Father” (Ja. 1:27).
Various
Newspaper Articles from 2018 #2 Here
are three NEWSPAPER articles from 2018: (1) Surely Know What A Pharisee
Is ~ When Charging Others As One! (2) Surely Friends of Jesus! Those Who Accuse
Others of “Legalism” for Obeying Christ’s Commandments (3) Surely Farfetched ~ The Church Can’t Be About RELIGION Or It
Is A Cult.
You
Were Pagans Carried Away Unto Dumb Idols (I Cor. 12:2) Many are simply not
aware of the various “other” designations for the Gentiles – such as “pagans,”
“heathens,” “infidels” and “unbelievers.” This is especially true when some of
these refer to idolaters. The world is divided into two divisions: Christians
and the whole world that lies in the power of the evil one, Satan (I Jo. 5:19).
Notice the emphasis given to one either being “in Christ” or “without” i.e.
“outside” of Christ (Col. 4:5). The church is presented here as it is – a HOLY
NATION (I Pet. 2:9) – the SPIRITUAL ISRAEL, citizenship is in heaven – the
church made up of both Jews and Gentiles. There is no praise here for “man” from a physical, ethnic or national
background (cf. Rom. 2:28-29). If one is not in Christ he is “without” or
“outside” (Col. 4:5). All other “WORLD
RELIGIONS” and religious beliefs fall under the category of “human philosophy”
and “empty deception” according to the “traditions of men” (Col. 2:8). When it comes to the total population of the world there are only two
divisions: Christians and the whole world that lies in the power of the evil
one, Satan (I Jo. 5:19).
Just Good Advice Versus The Gospel That Saves The world’s
remedy is offered by the world but God’s REMEDY
for sinful situations in the lives of His creation is found in
the Gospel of Christ. Concerned reader, God’s
remedy begins by identifying the sin and stating the penalty. In this article you will see the vast difference
between just offering another advice and telling them
the truth about God’s REMEDIES that deal with the soul, the need of instruction from His word, the penalty for having sinned,
and what is necessary for one to receive the remission of their sins.
Things Often Missing During
Afflictions The applications in this brief study will deal with
those who are in affliction. Dear reader, you will notice that with some of these
God has no pleasure. For others, they see God’s faithfulness during their
afflictions. Some fail because they do not REMEMBER the
former times when they
did joyfully endure afflictions with faithfulness! Why not read this either for yourself or with a view to being able to
help another?
Memory #1 Hopefully this will be the first of three
articles. Memory
is brought to light with such words as “REMEMBER,” “REMIND,” “forget” and
“neglect.” The antonym means to
forget, and at times intentionally thus implying culpability. Those who want to
remember the applicable lessons from God’s Word are the ones who are “doers of
the word” (Ja.1:22). The one who deceives himself hears God’s word as it gives
him the right view of himself but “immediately” – at once, very soon upon
departing from the word he forgets what he really is – his mind turns
immediately to what pleases him when he leaves the word. The proper use of memory
is presented in the light of using it to repent, and using the past where
brethren sought to corrupt or even destroy the congregation.
From
Youth through the Prime of Life (Eccl. 11:9-12:1) There are degrees of
progression of age in this text. Accountability is seen throughout and the
“right” things done are contrasted with things sinful that must be removed. These portions of life merge together and are fleeting, thus the
necessity of REMEMBERING ONE’S CREATOR in the days of youth.
Memory #3 of 3
This is the third portion of a brief series on “Memory” (April, May and June
2016). This article’s emphasis is on not using memory to prevent spiritual
danger and destruction, letting greed overpower remembering God’s presence in
times past, using memory to correct one’s life and
the necessity of being REMINDED to be ready for every good work. Israel’s Complaining / Murmuring towards Moses
and Aaron, and thus towards God Himself, that they had been brought out into
the wilderness to be killed by thirst and starvation led to the destruction of
many (cf. Nu. 11:1 Taberah; 11:33-34 Kibrothhathtaava).
Letting “greed” (lust) overpower remembering God’s presence in times past
resulted in a great plague upon the people (Nu. 11:33-34).
At
This Point In My Life…. Warnings concerning brethren not desiring sound
doctrine as well as commands to speak the things concerning sound doctrine are
easily found throughout the epistles (2 Tim. 4:3; Titus 1:9, 2:1 etc). Looking back institutional error can be much more
serious than one might think when participating. God requires an account of
what is past. We need to gather up those passages
on REMEMBRANCE, REMINDING, and how PUTTING IN REMEMBRANCE
is a safe thing for all.
Go ye therefore and make disciples
of all the nations… Explaining
how one truly becomes a "disciple" of Christ by being
baptized for the REMISSION of
one's sins according to the commission given the apostles.
What are the Works
of the Flesh? The WORKS
OF THE FLESH in the New Testament scriptures are part of God’s moral
analysis to be taught and applied. The Vatican recently issued a new
document stating when people ask their priests for a blessing “an exhaustive
moral analysis should not be placed as a precondition for conferring it” – this
is mentioned later with comments in this article. The works of the flesh are
sin (I Jo 3:4). We’re told they are what keeps one from Heaven,
and sends one to Hell – thus, the truth about them must not be rejected. The
works of the flesh can be divisive being sound doctrine (I Cor 11:19).
God’s word applied correctly will divide the faithful from the unfaithful. False
churches push Woke philosophies and LGBT+ based on out right acceptance
(!!) of the works of the flesh.
You can compare what the Vatican says with important points
like these:
…
6. The works of the flesh are sins to be repented of at baptism (Acts
2:38).
7. Baptism is certainly not for THE
REMISSION OF SINS (Acts 2:38) when one is lying out their teeth saying they are
sex they aren’t!
Jeremiah
and the Unfaithful Remnant In a prior article “Zedekiah
Would not Listen” God repeated the same warning to Zedekiah, and to all
the people. You may desire to read that article that deals with the same period
of Judah’s history. The ACCOUNT
JEREMIAH GIVES OF THE UNFAITHFUL REMNANT is one chalked full of their lies, false requests for prayer on
their behalf, and idolatry as God repeats His warning. They “should clearly
understand” that God has spoken and what God says He’ll do to those who do not
listen is what He does! Read
this lesson and understand God. For a study of Jeremiah and “The Three
Stages of the Babylonian Captivity of Judah and Jerusalem” see “b” list: An
End! The Babylonian Captivity (Part

Jeremiah’s
Lamentations – Look Who’sCast into Hell! Two
prior articles deal with the days of Jeremiah: Zedekiah Would
not Listen and Jeremiah
and the Unfaithful Remnant (REMNANT). This article describes the abject misery in
Jerusalem as God brings His judgments upon Judah and destroys Jerusalem. Although
the word “hell” is not found in the LAMENTATIONS of JEREMIAH it
is seen everywhere. Read about the various classifications of
individuals who were cast into eternal torment. For a study of Jeremiah and
“The Three Stages of the Babylonian Captivity of Judah and Jerusalem” see
“b” list: An

Bible Endings For Torn Relationships Five important Bible relationships are
presented while giving emphasis to the importance of entreaty and
reconciliation. Stated goals for entreating are: 1. To be of the same mind,
Phil. 2:2; 2. To be at peace, I Th. 5:13; 3. To understand the outcome of
dissension. It strengthens the enemy of the gospel; the weak when pulled in to dissensions are caused to stumble; 4. To REPENT and return to the work, Rev. 3:19-20; 5. To use with older men, I Tim. 5:1; 6. To
implement with God's wisdom which is easy to be entreated, Ja. 3:17-18. Thus
one is to be both approachable and easily persuaded to do that which is right.
What Stubbornness Really Is The prophet Jeremiah had a lot to say about the stubbornness of God’s people. He pulled no
punches but stated plainly the carnality involved. The purpose of this study is
to ensure that we understand the importance of obedience being commanded us. The seriousness
of this study is seen in that the stubborn contend with God, are punished, and
while being punished go yet onwards towards that point where iniquity is great,
sins are numerous, and God’s punishment painfully serious! Stubbornness contends with God in refusing to REPENT!
The Lies Of Apostasies The
full title of this article is “The Pattern Of Lies Producing And Sustaining
Apostasies.” Read this article to study what
Jeroboam did wrong when he said in his heart that God’s established order would
not work. Besides Jeroboam’s apostasy, the article presents in detail the
pattern of lies producing apostasies from the book of Jeremiah. Some important
questions answered are: Why do lies prevail? How has the truth been affected?
What Lies? What will God do in the end? Here is an excerpt: “Why do lies
sustaining apostasies prevail? These lies prevail because they refused to REPENT
(Jer. 5:3). When
apostasies go on and continue it is proof that
when lies are taught brethren are taught to lie, and become stubborn and refuse
to REPENT! Somebody
says, “That’s not fair! You can’t talk like that!” Have you never read I Cor.
10:11-12!
Why We Rejoice With One Another God delights over His people to do them
good (De. 28:63). The Psalmist said, “Light is sown for the righteous, and
gladness for the upright in heart” (Ps. 97:11). We are commanded to rejoice
with those who rejoice, and to weep with those who weep, being of the same mind
one toward another (Rom. 12:15-16). Our being sorrowful when one is arrogant
and suffers is different from sharing joy and sorrow as Paul spoke of. If one
of us suffers because we remain obstinate and arrogant then our sorrow will be
the tears of Jeremiah if we love them: “But if ye will not hear it, my soul
shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and
run down with tears, because the Lord's flock is carried away captive” (Jer.
13:17). We know that arrogance and pride God will destroy! The righteous will
weep because of this for the reasons Jeremiah did in Lamentations— they were
given many
opportunities to REPENT and give glory to God, but that takes fear
and trembling, and they refused every time the offer was
given and would not (cf. Jer. 13:15-19, 15:7, 5:3). This is the bitter sorrow
that realizes God can make enemies rejoice over His own when He casts them off
(Ps. 89:42).
Memory #1 Hopefully this will be the first of three
articles. Memory is brought to light with such words as “remember,” “remind,” “forget” and “neglect.” The antonym
means to forget, and at times intentionally thus implying culpability. Those
who want to remember the applicable lessons from God’s Word are the ones who
are “doers of the word” (Ja.1:22). The one who deceives himself hears God’s
word as it gives him the right view of himself but “immediately” – at once,
very soon upon departing from the word he forgets what he really is – his mind
turns immediately to what pleases him when he leaves the word. The proper use of
memory is presented in the light of using it to REPENT, and putting to good use
past knowledge of events and motives where brethren sought to corrupt or even
destroy the congregation.
Membership Requirements According to the
First Century Revelation This lesson is Lesson Three in our Series: "Fundamental Lessons on the
Church." Lesson Three: "Membership Requirements According to the
First Century Revelation." In this lesson you will learn about what one must do to be saved and
become a member of Christ's church. The question, "What must I do to be
saved?" is fully answered as you study through the accounts of conversion
recorded in Acts. A proper definition for REPENTANCE and what it is
may be found as with the account of conversions as recorded in Acts 2.
Moreover, the step of REPENTANCE (a change of will that leads to a change of conduct)
and its place in the order of the steps of obedience necessary to become a
Christian is given proper consideration by studying particular cases of
conversion.
You saw it so deal with it! You may read about the
"immediate" approach of our Lord in correcting others. This is followed with scriptures depicting
the responsibility all members have to do the same. The lesson exposes those who, with no intention of straightening
anything out, prefer to say that they “do” forgive
those who sin against them without demanding REPENTANCE.
A
Study of Sin Confessed This article addresses the responsibility that
Christians have to confess the sins they commit in order that they might be
forgiven. It also points out that forgiveness should be based upon the REPENTANCE of the one who sinned.
What To Tell Your
Mate When They Are Guilty of Wrath
Christians need to study and then be honest and make the right applications to
one another, all family members, and especially with their own mates (Cf. I Th.
5:14). Such must understand that God’s longsuffering is
not equal to forgiveness, thus Paul demand REPENTANCE.
Educational
Institutions Among The Brethren by Robert F. Turner (Preceptor 1962) EDUCATIONAL
INSTITUTIONS AMONG THE BRETHREN. Preface: The below is
the first of six articles written in 1962 by brother Robert Turner as
duplicated by brother Dan Gatlin. A link will be provided should you desire to
read them in full, and I believe it will benefit you to do so. However, I’m
compelled to warn that the below approach captioned with the catch phrase
“hasten leisurely” was not and is not today the way to deal with apostasy. The
phrase as you’ll see was taken from the president of Franklin College who urged
brethren in 1850 to “hasten leisurely” in their conclusions touching the
subject of the Bible in Colleges, Professorships in Sacred History and
Theological Schools. Brother Turner adopts and repeats it as that which best
expresses his own personal feelings on this matter in 1962 — some 112 years
later. We must never convince ourselves as Christians only, that to deal
with error (*APOSTASY) immediately and demand
REPENTANCE will do more harm than good —
those involved in error must repent and stop the practice thereof (Cf. Acts
15:1-2; Gal. 2:14).
Although you find no scriptures in the several pages of these articles —
“church history” has been and easily may be accompanied by New Testament
Scriptures to expose the false practices, motives and patterns produced by the
human wisdom that seeks to establish human organizations to do the work Christ
gave the churches of Christ to do.

Aliens
and National Ignorance: The concerns of space aliens and extraterrestrial
activity in recent balloon intercepts, present A TOTALLY WRONG PERSPECTIVE OF
THE EARTH, LIFE HERE, AND MANKIND HAVING BEEN GIVEN THE EARTH AS A DWELLING
PLACE (Gen. 1:26; Ps. 115:16). There are no space aliens! The Devil and the
spiritual host of wickedness (not flesh and blood) working here to destroy
souls, is considered by most to be a myth (Ja 4:7; I Pet. 5:8; Eph. 6:10-13). JESUS DELIVERS FROM GOD’S WRATH COMING UPON THE SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE
(EPH. 5:6; I TH 1:10, 5:9).
•Eph 5:6 refers to 5:3-5 which lists the very
filth promoted by CRT, LGBTQ, Trans Identification, etc.
•On Pentecost, Peter answered their question
on what to do to be saved, and HE COMMANDED THOSE WHO HEARD THE GOSPEL TO
REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED FOR THE REMISSION OF THEIR SINS (Acts 2:37-41).
•Paul spoke to the supposed wise men in Athens at the Areopagus (Acts
17:22-33). Act 17:30 Truly, these times
of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, Act 17:31 because He has appointed a day on
which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained.
He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."

9. If you want to benefit one who asks about their relationship
with Christ tell them the truth!
…
13. Identifying the works of the flesh is the love of the truth, AND
LEADS ONE TO REPENTANCE AND OBEDIENCE (I Jo 5:1-3).
14. The works of the flesh are God’s NO (!!) to blessing

The Way
of Integrity Psalms
119 This Psalm is often avoided because of its length. This study begins
with eight points on integrity with God. You will note that our
inconsistencies are often our REPROACH in life. And that there is boldness in serving God when there are no
inconsistencies. Understand that it is on the grounds of your
integrity that you may plead to God for protective care against the wicked (Ps.
119:121-128). Because he did not want to wander from God the scriptures would
be his COUNSELORS (lit., the men of his counsel) to establish his ways. These
are but a few of the good lesson presented through studying this Psalm. Why not
read the article and while doing so read it along with your Bible?
The
Appreciation Of Godly Sisters In Christ The tremendous value of our sisters
in Christ is set forth in this article. Beginning with the honor that is due to
faithful women in Christ, the study sets forth the various duties enjoined upon
them in regards to their family and service rendered to the church that Christ
built. They are to be ready unto every good work (Eph. 2:10, I Tim. 5:10, Titus
3:1, 2:14). We are all to stay
ready unto every good work (Titus 3:1). Consider by contrast that the sisters are not
among the unappreciated mentioned in I Timothy 5. The first thing said about
the unappreciated sister(s) is she gives herself to wanton pleasure and is
dead while she lives (I Tim. 5:6). Sensual desires lead to her casting off the
faith (I Tim. 5:10-13). Paul implores with the duties in I Tim. 5:14
that come with marriage, bearing children, managing the household, and giving
no occasion to adversary for REPROACH. Why not study the nine points of application directed towards their
being scripturally appreciated?
A
Simple Biblical Pattern For Explaining “Why?” A
respondent who questioned the matter of judging those who live together without
marriage stated, “I think these days it can be a good thing to live together
before getting married.... This obviously goes against your feelings, but
they're just your feelings, not everyone's." Last of all she stated,
"As far as your last sentence, it's not an idea that it's acceptable and
normal, these days, IT IS acceptable and normal.... If you don't like it, then
don't do it.... I wouldn't criticize you...why do you judge about people who
choose to live together?"
This individual wants to know “Why”
I would determine that people who choose to live together are wrong in doing
so. I presumed this to be an honest question deserving of an answer.
Following a desire to know God's will as one reads
the Bible they must learn to make the proper applications. Proper applications
necessitate distinguishing between what is "right" and what is
"wrong." Paul said concerning God’s word, “All scripture is given by inspiration of
God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for REPROOF,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be
perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim. 3:16-17). This article presents the profit of God’s word as seen
in doctrine, REPROOF, correction and instruction in righteousness
as well as in equipping the Christian unto every good work. “Instruction”
in the Word plainly states that fornication as described above is a work of the
flesh that leads to eternal destruction if not repented of (I Cor. 6:9; Gal.
5:19-21).
The List That Justifies The Ungodly Using the instruction
from Prov. 9:7-9 that says, “REPROVE not a scorner, lest he hate you…” this article deals with the ungodly who have
no real concern for the whole of God’s commandments and doing all He requires
(cf. Ps. 119:160). Such will often “keep records” (lists) of others’ sins that
they have repented of. Such wicked “mark” another’s sins in order to use them
against them in an unrighteous way! And of course their “list” so far as they are concerned, is reason
enough for them to reject REPROOFS / REBUKES for their own present sins.
Unwise
Unsuspiciousness (Jer. 40:14) This is based upon Gedaliah’s mistake as
recorded by Jeremiah. We see stupidity in the pattern presented by refusing to
credit information given by “all” and being indignant towards the informant and
accusing him of lying (Lies). “You liar!” You will often hear that when the
evidence points to something one doesn’t want to believe. He should have
listened. One point developed is feeling guilt for
not giving the WARNINGS when we should have.
And along with that how fools avoid giving the obvious needed REPROOFS
and WARNINGS.
3. PREACHING involves “REPROVE”
[G1651], “REBUKE” [G2008] & “EXHORT”
[G3870] (CF. 2 TIM. 4:2)
4. QUALIFIED
ELDERS BOTH EXHORT (G3870) AND CONVICT or CONVICE (G1651) THE GAINSAYSERS
(G483) (Titus 1:9).
Speak
Evil of No Man – But I Can Say… We find the admonition to “speak
evil of no man” in
Titus 3:2. To speak evil means to vilify, defame, or blaspheme. Most don’t know
how to read the Bible. In the same verse we are not to be a brawler. If I call
a brawler what he is, i.e., a brawler do I violate “speak evil of no man”?
People pay no attention to what Jesus said and where he said it. Furthermore,
they pay no attention to what hypocrites said to Him and when they said it. Finally, most pay no attention to what Jesus said
and who He said it to! When it comes to social, cultural, and political activities, Christians
deal with the immoralities as He did. The unfruitful works of darkness are to be REPROVED (Eph
5:11-13).
I’ll use Herod Antipas as the first example. Was he the fox Jesus said he was?
/ “REPROVED” [G1651] Strong’s: - convict, convince, tell a fault, rebuke,
reprove. > CWSD: In the NT, to
convict, to prove one in the wrong and thus to
shame him.
All of these are related to shame when
preaching: “rebuke” G2008 (2 Tim 4:2) Thayer: 4) to tax with fault,
rate, chide, rebuke, reprove, censure severely 4a) to admonish or charge sharply; “convict”
G1651 (Titus 1:9) Strong’s: - convict, convince,
tell a fault, rebuke, reprove. CWSD: In the
NT, to convict, to prove one in the wrong and thus to shame him; “convict”
G1651 Thayer: 2a2) to call to account, show one
his fault, demand an explanation. Some want to act
like they are fighting for the Truth, but they are not really fighting. A
rebuke stings. General Inquiry does not (!!) replace the work of
rebuking. The receiver knows what it sounds like, and it is not a rebuke!
Selected
Newspaper Articles Dear reader the following titles are selected newspaper
articles that appeared in our local newspaper the Yuma Sun. The first is titled
“That’s Not My Jesus!” Some are quick to respond to Jesus’ condemnation
of homosexuality with, “That’s not my God!” Such do not present the real Jesus.
You will notice should you read each of the three brief articles that there are
two kinds of “fools” mentioned therein. There are “fools” who truly despise
God’s wisdom and instruction given by Him in His Word (Prov. 1:29). Such fools
as these do not listen to what God says. The article titled “Fools Leave God out of
Marriage” presents this kind of
fool. Again, and by contrast there those who do listen
and obey God’s Word who are viewed as being “fools” for so doing. Such “fools”
are considered to be “weak” – not strong
physically or great according to the world’s standards of strength and success
but weak and despised. They are “despised” by
the world as being without the honor, display and REPUTATION that is so admired
and cherished by the successful in the world. These “fools” are presented in the article titled “The
Credentials of a Fool.” Which
kind of “fool” are you?
The Appreciation Of
Godly Sisters In Christ The tremendous value of our sisters in Christ is set forth in this article.
Beginning with the honor that is due to faithful women in Christ, the study
sets forth the various duties enjoined upon them in regards to their family and
service rendered to the church that Christ built. Children and family
members must practice piety towards their “own” and REQUITE THEIR PARENTS (I

work (Eph. 2:10, I Tim. 5:10, Titus 3:1, 2:14). Why not study the nine points
of application directed towards their being scripturally appreciated?
Selected
Newspaper Articles Here are four newspaper articles presented to the
community with a love for the truth. The intent is to present God’s truths
without incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious
bodies: (3) “God Knows When Men Conceal The Truth” presents a scriptural view of those who claim to
preach God’s word while restraining their lips for covetousness
sake. The ungodliness of all such who hate the good and love evil is contrasted
with the man
who is blessed. The man who is blessed
trusts in God, and has not shown RESPECT to the proud, nor to those who
lapse into falsehood (cf. Ps. 40:4). This man hates evil, loves the good and establishes justice so that God
will be gracious to him (cf. Amos 5:15).
Rule of
Law Points From the authority implied in the “name” of
Jesus Christ, who has all authority, several points are made concerning the
Gospel as the power of God unto salvation for all men, Jesus’ authority to
judge by His law, Sin as a violation of Christ’s law and how His law convicts
of sin. Major emphasis is also given to the RULE OF LAW of law being
attacked by ignorance, wrongful intent, good intentions, sincerity,
carelessness, ignoring, impulse and inconsistency, showing partiality, outright
defiance, distortion of one’s words and partial narratives of the Word
(to neglect to teach the whole counsel of God, Acts 20:27, 32.). APPLICATIONS INCLUDE GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS, TO SHOW
RESPECT OF PERSONS IS SIN, the kind of judgment that condemns oneself, and the one who boasts in
God’s law but dishonors God through breaking the law.
All
Lives Matter – A Hot Topic! When one turns to the Gospel of Christ
immediately its emphasis is ALL LIVES MATTER (Mk. 16:15-16). Saying “black lives matter” became political
and enforceable and people followed like sheep! All lives matter — don’t be
stupid and endorse the Black Lives Matter organization that is evil. Have the
courage as a Christian to say all lives matter. This is fundamental to our
example as a teaching element and concern for lost souls (Cf. Mk. 16:15-16,
Gal. 6:10, etc.). There is NO PARTIALITY WITH GOD
(Rom. 2:5-11; Acts 10:34 …God is no RESPECTER OF PERSONS).

Do Not Let
Your Heart Envy Sinners The purpose of this article is to emphasize the
importance of enabling others to develop speech that correctly describes the
sinner, and especially our children. Applications are made for this important
question: If you can’t say the wicked are so what are some likely problem you
will have? “Wisdom”
can say evil is hated (Rom. 12:9). Ps. 73 discussed here is about one who lost
the pure heart he praised and was envious of the “boasters” who depicted
physical health and material prosperity that most did not have. The appropriate
conclusion is: Ps. 37:7-9 “REST IN THE LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because
of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man
who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not
thyself in any wise to do evil. Don’t fret as it only leads to doing more
evil!” (Ps. 37:7-9).
Memory #2 You may desire to read “Memory #1” for April
2016 before this continuing article concerning some simple applications
pertaining to one’s memory. Emphasis in this article is given to the importance
of our remembering our own past conduct. Paul did not exclude himself when
speaking of past conduct before his conversion – stating plainly that he was a
blasphemer, persecutor and violent aggressor (“injurious”) against the church.
There is also the importance of our not forgetting even one of God’s benefits
of salvation in Christ. If a Christian has
fallen and then been RESTORED they must not revert back--- thus again
forgetting the necessary continued obedience for salvation in Christ.
Things in Christ not found in Islam One simple but effective way of
explaining the difference between a major “world” religion and the gospel of
Christ (the New Testament, Matt. 26:28) is to show the things found “in Christ”
that are not found elsewhere. Belief that God raised Jesus from the dead is important enough that one cannot be saved with it!
(Rom. 10:9-10). You will find under "Things Concerning the RESURRECTION" that Jesus "is" the RESURRECTION and the life (John 11:25; 2 Cor. 4:14; Col.
3:1-4). Those who do not obey the Gospel will be ashamed
on the Day the Lord comes again! (2 Th. 1:8-9; I John 2:28).
The Quran
On Jesus (Series) This series presents the basic teachings about The Second Coming of
Christ, the RESURRECTION DAY, The Judgment Day and The End of the World. You will
often hear that Islam honors all prophets, including Jesus. Just what “kind” of
honor does Islam give to the Lord Jesus Christ? It is certainly not that they
believe in His deity because they do not. The truth is Islam repeatedly denies
that Jesus is God. Islam also denies the basic tenants of the New Testament
teaching about Jesus and salvation. How do you supposedly honor Him when the
honor you give to Him is the dishonor of saying He was not who He said He was? Why not follow this series and see the many
truths that Islam denies about Jesus that the New Testament teaches and
Christians believe?
Casting Down
Eloquence & Sophistry Series (2 Cor. 10:4-5) Sodom’s filthy conduct in
the Old (Gen.19) stands as an example of the punishment of such for those who
live afterwards in the New (2 Pet. 2:6-9; Jude 7). Jesus,
Himself God, referred to this judgment where the Lord rained fire and
brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah. He said it will be
just the same way the day the Son of Man is REVEALED! (Lk. 17: 27-30).
Selected Newspaper
Articles The following are selected newspaper articles
ran by the Valley church of Christ for 2009-2010. We put some together
periodically in order to post them on our website. Both churches and preachers
would do well to consider that just offering a few scriptural points on
important topics can go a long way in helping others. Consider the following
points on (1)
COMPLETED REVELATION ~ Why Pentecostal / Charismatic Tactics Easily Deceive; (2)
Complaining With No Intention Of Making Things Scriptural; (3) Stupid Kid’s
Games Draw Customers; (4) Liberation Theology & Marxist Ideology; (5) Human
Creeds & Statements of Faith
The Head And Authority of the Church This is Lesson Two in our Series: "Fundamental
Lessons on the Church." Lesson Two: "The Head And Authority of the
Church." In
this lesson you will learn about the church with Jesus Christ as the one and
only head. The church has the responsibility to hold to, uphold, and proclaim
the New Testament as the word of Christ, the authority He gave to the church. Moreover, the process for the New Testament being
revealed (REVELATION) and given to man is fully explained. You will learn how the New Testament came
from God TO (arrow) Christ. Jesus, then, upon His ascension sent the Holy
Spirit to reveal that word TO (arrow) the apostles and prophets in the first
century. Thus the inspired prophets of the first century delivered God’s word
TO (arrow) man. This revealed word in time was WRITTEN in the inspired text (2
Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Peter 3:1-2, 15).
The
mark of the beast, 666,
Rev. 13:16-17 A respondent has stated that people are going around preaching 666 from
the Book of REVELATION about everything. He states that people
are even looking for the "mark" on the foreheads of others and requests
that something be said about this. The material puts the "mark" in
the context (historical setting) where it belongs!
Be Sure to
Keep Christ at New Years! Professions of love for the “baby” Jesus at
Christmas time are often nothing more than hypocrisy. Such are often followed within a very short period of time with
drinking and REVELRY at New Years. Here is a description of what the drunkard
brings upon himself.
Such As The Father Seeks To Worship Him It is entirely possible
that “REVERENCE” be taught by man’s precepts
and not God’s.
Hear Isaiah, "Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near
me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour
me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is
taught by the precept of men:" (Isa. 29:13). The precepts of men will not
do for worship! (Cp. Matt. 15:7-9). When fear for God is taught by man’s
precepts acceptable worship flies out the window and anything goes! The following article was
written with a view to a better understanding of acceptable worship, and
imploring “all” who are members to help out and join together in a concerted
effort to repel the present attack upon worship today. Read the article and then,
if you are a Christian, step forward, speak up, give counsel and do not put the
sole burden of having to deal with unseemly conduct during worship solely upon
those who stand before all and lead! NOTE: For more articles concerning REVERENCE see Worship (“W” page).
The Way of Integrity Psalms 119 This Psalm is often avoided because of its length.
This study begins with eight points on integrity with God. You will note that
our inconsistencies are often our reproach in life. And that there is boldness
in serving God when there are no inconsistencies. Also, that affliction is one
of God’s ways to “make” us understand His precepts. We ask God to REVIVE us in order that we might keep His precepts! Understand that it is on the grounds of
your integrity that you may plead to God for protective care against the wicked
(Ps. 119:121-128). These are but a few of the good lesson presented through
studying this Psalm. Why not read the article and while doing so read it along
with your Bible?
"What went you out…to see?" This
is a lesson on dress. The study first looks at Jesus' teaching concerning
"anxiety" and dress, Matt. 6, the Sermon on the Mount. Following
this, application is drawn from the use of "clothing" as a metaphor
in warning against false religious teachers (Matt. 7:15). A very important lesson is drawn from His teaching concerning John the
Baptist's rebuke of the hypocritical Jewish leaders. All their works they did "that they might have glory of men"
and that is the only REWARD they'd receive. What it means to present one's self as a living sacrifice,
acceptable to God, holy, …and not be conformed to this world (Rom. 12:1-2) is viewed in the light of
proper dress and conduct. The kind of conduct that shows respect for oneself,
for others, and manifests one's self control (I Tim.
2:8-9).
Principles For Helping One Another This study presents the duty of Christians helping
one another. Perhaps you need to read up on some of the improper motives for helping
another. You can find some listed here!
Also, one can learn more concerning the improper attitudes manifested
towards those who do fulfill their duty to help others. Above all, there is a
great REWARD for such worthy giving!
Be Successful Where You Are Too often, I’m afraid, small
churches are lacking in the duty of “liberaliity” or
giving (I Cor. 16:1-3). The article encourages local churches to be successful
in such. You will find the Lord’s command to THE RICH clearly stated, as well as the necessity of brethren
being taught properly concerning their duty to be good at imparting to others.
Question: How is your liberality doing concerning the local church you are a
member of?
The
Paths of Mercy The
subject of God’s great mercy is connected with the things that He delights in.
God delights in Loving-kindness, Justice and Righteousness, thus the necessity
of our glorying in these things in order that we might receive His mercy!
Moreover, God’s mercy is for those who fear Him (Ps. 103:17-18). We must
remember that it is in the practice of mercy itself that we receive back from
God (Ps. 18:25-27). Along with these there is a
checklist of applications on God’s kindness that includes when one is RICH spiritually.
Selected
Newspaper Articles Dear reader the following titles are selected newspaper
articles that appeared in our local newspaper the Yuma Sun. Advertizing for
many churches tends to follow the current trend for advertizing in general and
has an emotional “pitch” to possibly interest the reader. The intent of these
articles is that each shows a love for and desire to present the Truth without
incorporating the emotional flavor so popular with other religious bodies
today. The topics are: “The Buyer Is Like The Seller;
The Creditor Is Like The Debtor” --- includes “the lender is like the borrower” (What God’s word says about greed,
liars, cheats and murderers applies to all – THE RICH AND POOR!); “Wicked Kids,
Teens, Beating & Stomping Others” (This exposes the lie, “Oh they’re just
too young to know better!”); “Some Wrights Are So Wrong” (When so called
“Pastors” are asked if John 14:6 is true and if they think Islam is another way
to salvation, and then suggest that there is another path to the Father they
deny what Jesus and the apostles taught! (cf. John 12:48).
Selected
Newspaper Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1)
“Using ‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street
Mugger”; (3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” and (5) “Surely not a Greedy Person” – those who are NOT RICH
TOWARDS GOD.
The
Majority Know Another Jesus The church at Corinth gladly tolerated fools
who taught another Jesus and different gospel (cf. 2 Cor. 11:4,19). It is possible for one to read the trifling
literature of fools and possess a completely false view of Jesus. Read the
Gospels for yourself and see what He really did do and teach. Here’s a start
with applications from the Gospels themselves that show the stark differences
between what most think Jesus taught and what He really did teach! Verses are
presented that deal with: (13) those guilty of allowing
the activities of life, its PLEASURES AND RICHES to choke the Word out
of their life…
Selected
Newspaper Articles Dear reader the
following bold heading is a selected article that appeared in our local
newspaper, the Yuma Sun. “I’m Mr. Positive!” bespeaks of the
empty, vain, teaching and preaching done today by popular speakers who serve
themselves and not the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 16:17). Mr. PMA (Positive Mental
Attitude) can avoid every probing question as to soundness in teaching and love
for truth with, “You’ve got to understand, I’m just being me in being totally
positive in my message.” How clever the liars are who
hide their true motives concerning their LOVE OF RICHES, FAME AND
POWER behind “I’m Mr. PMA!” Why not read about Mr. PMA and his motives for not
using scripture and requiring repentance unto salvation? We encourage you to
read each of scriptures referenced to understand your own accountability (Jo.
12:48; Matt. 7:21-27).

Noah Got Drunk,
But That’s Not Me! There is a look here at Noah in failing as all RIGHTEOUS MEN WILL DO (Eccl
7:20) – he planted a
vineyard and got DRUNK. This also shows the foolishness of thinking
too lightly of one’s sin. There is scripture on DRINKING and DRUNKENESS, and application made directly to brethren
who separate themselves from their brethren in order to seek their own sinful
desires --- Pro 25:26 A RIGHTEOUS MAN who
falters before the wicked is like a murky spring and a polluted well.
God Turns
The Way Of The Wicked Upside Down This lesson considers the path of the wicked that
is a familiar topic throughout the Psalms. You will learn about the wicked by
the following: (1) God thwarts the way of the wicked (Ps. 146:9); (2) God puts
the wicked in great fear (Ps. 53); (3) Accusers are filled with their own ways
(Ps. 109). This section tells you exactly what will happen to the wicked; (4) You will learn about the purpose of their traps they set for the
RIGHTEOUS;
(5) God overthrows the best of secret counsel (Ps. 64).
A
Simple Biblical Pattern For Explaining “Why?” A respondent who questioned the matter of
judging those who live together without marriage stated, “I think these days it
can be a good thing to live together before getting married.... This
obviously goes against your feelings, but they're just your feelings, not
everyone's." Last of all she stated, "As far as your last sentence,
it's not an idea that it's acceptable and normal, these days, IT IS acceptable
and normal.... If you don't like it, then don't do it.... I wouldn't criticize
you...why do you judge about people who choose to live together?"
This individual wants to know
“Why” I would determine that people who choose to live together are wrong in
doing so. I presumed this to be an honest question deserving of an answer.
Following a desire to
know God's will as one reads the Bible they must learn to make the proper
applications. Proper applications necessitate distinguishing between
what is “right” and what is “wrong.” Paul said concerning God’s word, “All scripture is given
by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for INSTRUCTION
IN RIGHTEOUSNESS: That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Tim. 3:16-17). This article presents the profit of God’s word as
seen in doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in
RIGHTEOUSNESS that a Christian might be throughly equipped unto every good work. “Instruction” in the
Word plainly states that fornication as described above is a work of the flesh
that leads to eternal destruction if not repented of (I Cor. 6:9; Gal.
5:19-21).
What You Can And Will Do In Christ
This brief study should offer assurance to Christians
that their efforts to serve God faithfully are attainable, as well as being
greatly aided by others' prayers on their behalf. What one can and will do by
remaining faithful in Christ is declared through the words of Paul's prayer for
the church at Colossae in Col. 1:9-12. Here are the key thoughts: A. Be filled with knowledge, all wisdom and
spiritual understanding. These are the sources of RIGHTEOUSNESS in our lives. B. Walk worthy, fully pleasing Him, being
fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. C.
Strengthened for attaining all steadfastness and patience, with Joy. D.
Joyously giving thanks to the Father. Following is a "Check Your Spiritual
Growth With Self-Test Questions" giving further emphasis to our growth and
development into mature children of God. The stated "goal" of our efforts is
seen in Philippians 1:10-11.
The Appreciation
Of Godly Sisters In Christ The tremendous value of our sisters in Christ is
set forth in this article. Beginning with the honor that is due to faithful
women in Christ, the study sets forth the various duties enjoined upon them in
regards to their family and service rendered to the church that Christ built. Children
and family members must practice piety towards their “own” and requite their
parents, Paul said (I Tim. 5:4).
Moreover, they are to be ready unto every good work (Eph. 2:10, I Tim. 5:10,
Titus 3:1, 2:14). Christians are to yield their bodies unto God as
INSTRUMENTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS in sacrificial service (cf.
Rom. 12:1-2, 6:13). Their glory is in
understanding and knowing God who delights in lovingkindness, judgment, and RIGHTEOUSNESS in the earth! (Cf. Jer. 9:23-24). Why not study the nine
points of application directed towards their being scripturally appreciated?
Why We Rejoice With One Another God
delights over His people to do them good (De. 28:63). The Psalmist said, “Light is sown for the RIGHTEOUS, and gladness for the upright in heart” (Ps. 97:11). This light and joy is for the RIGHTEOUS and upright of heart! We are commanded to
rejoice with those who rejoice, and to weep with those who weep, being of the
same mind one toward another (Rom. 12:15-16). Our being sorrowful when one is
arrogant and suffers is different from sharing joy and sorrow as Paul spoke of.
If one of us suffers because we remain arrogant and obstinate then our tears
will be the tears of Jeremiah if we love them (cf. Jer. 13:17). However, you
will find such “rejoice with” applications in this article as (1) I Can Rejoice
With One Who Is Faithful Whom I Know God Delights Over To Do Good; (2) I Can’t
Rejoice With Another When I See The Vanity Of The World; (3) I Can Rejoice With
One Who Rejoice In Truth; (4) I Can Rejoice With One Who Wants God’s
Instruction, Counsel, And Eye Upon Them.

~ Things I Can Count On Today America was attacked by terrorists on
this date. This is a “time” when people thrive upon inappropriate statements,
and misleading applications of God’s Word. Many love to “go with the flow,” and
jump on the bandwagon! Illustrations of such would be “Nostradamas
said…,” “Armageddon has come,“ “the Mark of the
Beast.“ One important point in this presentation is the resolve of nations to
rebuild in time past - how it worked and did not work. Moreover, RIGHTEOUSNESS exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to
any people (Prov. 14:34; Malachi 1:4).
The
Paths of Mercy The subject of God’s great mercy is connected
with the things that He delights in. God delights in
Loving-kindness, Justice and RIGHTEOUSNESS, thus the necessity of our glorying in these
things in order that we might receive His mercy! Moreover, God’s mercy
is for those who fear Him (Ps. 103:17-18). We must remember that it is in the
practice of mercy itself that we receive back from God (Ps. 18:25-27). Along
with these there is a checklist of applications on God’s kindness.
Selected Newspaper
Articles for 2013 These newspaper articles from 2013 include: (1) “Using
‘Christendom’ to Cover Religious Error”; (2) “The Ways of the Street Mugger”;
(3) “Murders, Murderers, Victims”; (4) “Surely not a Hot Head” –
here the WRATH OF MAN DOES NOT WORK THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD and (5) “Surely not a
Greedy Person.”
So
Somebody Told You a Christian Cannot Sin This larger article
begins with two brief newspaper articles that illustrates the habit some
develop of picking a favorite verse, or verses, without considering “all” that
the New Testament teaches on a particular topic. Thus we have an example of
“the favorite verses syndrome.” This happens to concern the matter of
Christians and when they do sin. It includes important points and topics such
as “God Knows,” “Why Confess?,” “Our Advocate is Jesus Christ,” “The Wholeness
of the Doctrine of Christ,” “God Gave Us His Word
so We Can Practice RIGHTEOUSNESS” and “When Considering the Devil and Christians.”
Understand that John is emphasizing our “practicing righteousness” as our
“walk” or manner of life (I Jo. 1:6, I Jo. 3:7). We are to walk in the light
and not in darkness.
The Correct Delight of Kings “The appreciation of
“the delight of kings” of Israel --- kept in proper context under the Old
Covenant --- is seen in their fear of God and obedience to His
commands given
to Israel. The commands for them to LOVE TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS, and some doing so, stands in
contrast to the wickedness of civil government today!”
Identity Theft Here is a lesson based upon the prevalence of
“identity theft.” This lesson answers the questions, “What is identity theft?”,
“How do thieves steal an identity?”, “What do thieves do with a stolen
identity?”, “How can you find out if your identity was stolen?” and “What can
you do to help fight identity theft?” --- all with a spiritual view as to the
use of Christ’s name without proper permission and how Christ name theft crimes
take many forms. Spiritually the unity of belief and practice of the one Gospel
is the means by which we fight identity theft and protect against those who
wear Christ’s name who are frauds. It
is important that both of the names “christian” and
“brethren” be carefully guarded. You will find twelve scriptural and helpful
applications for detecting these impostors who preach another Gospel. Such will “ROB” you of your prize if you let them (Col. 2:18-19).
The mark
of the beast, 666,
Rev. 13:16-17 A
respondent has stated that people are going around preaching the number 666
about everything. He states that people are even looking for the
"mark" on the foreheads of others and requests that something be said
about this. The material puts the "mark" in the
context (historical setting) where it belongs! ROME was one of the great enemies that Satan used in
order to try and destroy Christ's church.
A Read the
Bible Story worth Telling The importance of reading the Bible is stressed
along with appropriate applications concerning the blessings of reading it,
hearing it and keeping it. In Jo. 8:31-32 Jesus said if you continue in word,
then you are my disciples. The Bible can be understood alike. If
those who believed on Him couldn’t understand it alike then how could they
continue in it? Concerning
the epistle to the Ephesians Paul said, “Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand
my
knowledge in the mystery of Christ” (Eph. 3:4). There is this warning: If you could not understand the Bible you would not
know the difference between human tradition, man’s so called spiritual wisdom,
and God’s Word (Col. 2:8). Col 2:8 warns us, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the RUDIMENTS of the
world, and not after Christ.” So why do people make the
claim we cannot understand the Bible alike? They claim such because
they are holding on to their human traditions. With that in mind the article presents
a conversation with a man who said that he is reading the Bible for himself for
the first time in his life. Moreover, he’s seeing the differences
between what man is willing to teach for the sake of human tradition, power,
prestige, etc. and how the Bible really reads.
What
Every Politician Needs to Know
Applicable lessons based upon David’s addresses, and of
course God’s, to Solomon concerning his reign upon
David’s throne form the background of this particular article. This
article applies to politicians. Read about Solomon’s throne and exemplification
of one of his own proverbs: “It is an abomination to kings to
commit wickedness:
for the throne is established by righteousness” (Prov. 6:12). This article states what kings, RULERS, officials, presidents,
congressmen, mayors and councilmen need to hear. Applications are also
made from the book of Jeremiah and the Psalms denouncing oppression, fraud,
extortion, cruelty and the destruction of the foundation of society.
Be Sure to
Keep Christ at New Years! Drinking: the words or King
Lemuel and Isaiah present an appropriate lesson for Kings, RULERS and
Government Officials.
The Correct Delight of Kings “The
appreciation of “the delight of kings” of Israel --- kept in proper
context under the Old Covenant --- is seen in their fear of God
and obedience to His commands given to Israel. The commands for them to love
truth and righteousness, and some doing so, stands in contrast to the wickedness
of RULERS and magistrates today!”
